ITA0090 Italeri 1/72 P-51B Mustang
TECH NOTES
This is a 1/72 North American P-51 Mustang from Italeri.
The P-51 Mustang was designed in response to a British request for North America to produce Curtiss P-40's under license. North America refused and came up with the NA-73, later called "Mustang" by the British. The first versions of the airplane were powered by the same Allison engine that was used in the P-40, and as a result performance at high altitude suffered. However, the aircraft excelled at low altitude and these first Mustangs were used in the ground attack and close air support roles.
