MMI4435 Minicraft 1/144 PBY-5A Catalina
TECH NOTES
This is a 1/144 Plastic Air-Sea Rescue PBY-5A Catalina Model Kit from
Minicraft Models. It's for ages 10 and up.
The initial flight of the Catalina was in 1934, over sixty-five years ago. The last of the PBY-5A amphibian versions were manufactured in 1945. A surprising number of these venerable craft are still being used today as air taxis, borate bombers, and executive aircraft. During WWII the Amphibious PBY-5A was often used as an air-sea rescue vehicle.
FEATURES: Plastic pieces attached to sprues and molded in light grey.
The exterior surface of the Catalina is elaborately decorated with
metal plate seams, bolt heads, and various other minute details.
The nose of the plane will hold any one of three different machine
gun types.
The cockpit is loaded with two seats and controls.
Optional machine guns fit in the hull and fire out small square
openings along the fuselage.
Clear domes cover elliptical openings on either side of the plane
for spotting downed pilots.
Detailed engine assemblies give the craft a wonderful sense of
realism.
The landing gear may be assembled in a flight position or a ground
position.
Detailed pictorial instructions guide you through assembly.
